Fluffy-sama

Sesshoumaru from the anime Inuyasha. He's a perenial cosplay favorite due to his awesome outfit and overall coolness- but that doesn't stop Western fandom from nicknaming him "Fluffy-sama" (due to his fluffy shoulder fur thing.)

My personal theory is that the shoulder fur is an asexual budding from which will hatch another, genetically identical Sesshoumaru, who will continue the process until they subdue the earth through their excessive numbers... In the character guidebook, after so many years, Takahashi-sensei mentioned that the fur is a part of his body. 0____0 So it's either an in-process cloning, a tail (?) or overgrown underarm hair- the last of which severely cuts into his bishounen appeal.

Personally, if I were a a giant monster, I would avoid Tokyo. Not only is the traffic terrible, but Tokyo seems to have a higher per-capita superhero population than any other city (except for possibly New York City, which is also a favorite of giant monsters. Go figure.)

Maybe the monsters, who are usually the last of their species, are depressed because they can't get a date? :? Or maybe they just have to have some of that fabulous Tokyo sushi before passing on. Your guess is as good as mine.

(BTW if you're worried about the guy in the car, who's very freaked out to have been caught by an anachronistic T-Rex, his name is Mr. Takamura, a salaryman with a wife and two children. He manages to escape in time when [some costumed superhero] rescues him. After his brush with death, he begins campaigning for tighter restrictions on scientists who try to resurrect huge prehistoric monsters from DNA in amber. Unfortunately, however, he's not successful at this, because most scientists are boys, and boys love dinosaurs. Well, at least he tried....)

As for the dinosaur in the picture, he decides that attacking cities isn't for him, and instead goes to the mountains to seek inner peace. (Simply because my art refuses sad endings. ^^;) After years of self-examination, he realizes the error of his bad ways and writes a letter of apology to Mr. Takamura for eating his car. They become penpals and good friends in the end.

shichigosan usagi

Sakura-Bunny just turned 7, and she's attending shichi-go-san ("7,5,3") which is a festival for children of those ages. On that day, children wear very fancy traditional clothing and go to shrines for good fortune.

In old times, children often didn't live long, so shichi-go-san developed to celebrate the lives of children who turned 3, 5 and 7.

The fancy outfit she's wearing is called a "furisode" or long-sleeved kimono. This type of kimono is very ornate and worn by young girls and unmarried young women.

The flower ornaments in her hair (actually, I guess on her ears, since she's a bunny) are called "kanzashi" and are a traditional fabric-folding craft made in Japan for centuries.

The flower motif is "sakura" or cherry blossom.

This image was vectored in InkScape from an original drawing.

If you want to read more about Shici-Go-San, there is a Wikipedia page about it here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shichi-Go-San
